Title Towns:
Class BB Boys Basketball Champions of Kansas, 1952-1968

by Steven Michael Farney

$24.95, 101 pages, hard cover

From 1952 to 1968 Kansas High School Boys Basketball was divided into four classes: AA (the largest schools), A, B, and BB (the smallest schools). Title Towns chronicles these 176 small school champions. They were the "BB Kings" of their time!

In this golden era of boys high school basketball in Kansas, over 550 towns had accredited high schools and nearly all of them played basketball. Using a game-by-game analysis, Farney details over 225 different towns that had high school teams. Because nearly every town had a school, great geographic rivalries were created: friends battled friends, cousins played against cousins, and in some instances brothers played against brothers! It was more than just a game when two neighboring towns squared off on the court, and the intensity only increased when state tournament berths were on the line!
